How long does it take to qualify as Level 3 Personal Trainer?
From 5 weeks to 2 years
Many training providers are offering personal training courses in the UK where the qualification length can range from as little as 5 weeks to 2+ years. This is a large gap because the length of time matters when becoming a Personal Trainer.
The role of a Gym Instructor has 8 Learning and Development Requirements
The role of a Personal Trainer has 10 Learning and Development Requirements
Each of the requirements will have further underpinning knowledge and skills to gain to prove competency and confidence. If each module takes as little as a week, then graduation with all the necessary modules to fit industry standards is looking less likely in under 6 months.
We aren’t here just to sell you a personal training course, we want you to find the role of your dreams.

CIMSPA (the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity) is the professional organisation that provides development, leadership, support and empowerment for professionals working in sport and physical activity.Their goal is to create a standardised industry that everyone, from apprentices to CEOs, are confident in and proud to be part of. Some quick key facts are:
Backed by Sport England and DCMS (Department for Culture, Media and Sport) to lead developments in the sports and physical activity sector's workforce.
Set a rigorous system for standardising all sport and exercise professionals, assessments and awarding and validating qualifications.
Has membership options for everyone working in, or interested in working in, the sport and physical activity world.
CIMSPA already provides a route to chartered status for those working in leisure operations, and is developing similar routes for the whole of the sector.
CPD = Continuing Professional Development.
To maintain CIMSPA membership, members require 10 points per year.
Points can be gained through relevant qualifications, awards and courses. The great news is that many Future Fit Training modules will award you with these vital CIMSPA CPD points.
The course length will be dependent on the time you are able to dedicate to your study and if practical dates are included, the availability of these. The more time you have available, the quicker you are likely to complete your course.
Our courses have been designed to study both part-time and full-time for all of our learners, therefore the best way to work out how much time you need to study is to work out how many hours a week you can dedicate.
As well as giving you a choice of ways to pay to suit your circumstances and current commitments, we also welcome students funded under the MOD's Enhanced Learning Credits Administration Service (ELCAS). Call us today and find out more.
No. Our prices are very competitive and you will receive more than just qualifications. In comparison, looking at the content of our courses compared to others, we are confident that the quality and number of courses we offer outweigh those of other training providers.
For a more in-depth comparison with others, please download our Comparison Checklist.
The minimum age to train with us is ideally 18 years old or over on the day of enrolment, however there are courses which have a 16+ minimum age, with learners requiring written permission from a parent or guardian to participate.
We also have some courses with a requirement of minimum 19 years old. Please contact one of our Careers Advisors for further details.
All of our courses will run on Windows-based PCs, Apple macs and iPads. We test our courses in a range of browsers but for best results we recommend that you use the latest version of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
Our award-winning online personal training courses offer a variety of levels and intensities depending on individual experience and professional training. While there is no such thing as an ideal Personal Trainer or an ideal background, in our experience, the most successful Personal Trainers tend to have the following three characteristics:
Fearless Personal Training is a job for extroverts. You'll be in a busy, noisy space all day, and you'll be surrounded by people constantly. If you want to work as a Personal Trainer, you have to enjoy talking to people, putting yourself in a public-facing space on the gym floor or online, and building up the confidence and resilience to continue to market your skills to your community. A key characteristic of a fearless Personal Trainer is a passion for continuously building their skills and pushing their business further, opening up new client bases, and looking for new ways to help those around them hit their fitness goals.
Impactful The reality is that life as a Personal Trainer requires effort and commitment to build up a client base and deliver a fantastic service over and over again. You will constantly be going the extra mile, doing more than just what the industry experts do, and making a real impact.
Trusted - If you want clients to trust you and listen to you, they have to know that you genuinely care about them. This comes from building a genuine connection with all your clients, understanding what they're hoping to achieve with their sessions, and having the confidence that you have the skills to help them get there.
No, whilst we do recommend becoming a CIMSPA member, it is not compulsory for joining Pro Zone. You can still enjoy all of the benefits the platform has to offer whilst enhancing your knowledge and skills.
If you are planning to start teaching Pilates classes prior to completing your training, you cannot call yourself a Pilates teacher until you qualify, and you can only teach what you have covered in training. For this, you need to purchase Student insurance.
Balens, EMD, CIMSPA and Fit Pro are suggestions of companies who provide this.
The Royal Society of Public Health (RSPH) is an independent health education charity and the world's longest-established public health body.
They are also an Ofqual-recognised national awarding body that provides health-related qualifications. When you complete our Level 4 RSPH Nutrition course you will gain a Level 4 Award in Nutrition accredited by the RSPH.
You will also be eligible to become a member of the RSPH.
The Association for Nutrition (AfN) protects and benefits the public by defining and advancing standards of evidence-based practice across the field of nutrition and at all levels within the workforce. AfN Course Certification is a quality mark awarded to courses that meet the competence requirements for their specified sector and level. This quality assurance mark enables students, employers and the public to identify reputable, evidence-based courses in nutrition science.
As part of a Nutrition package, you will learn how to suggest meal plans for a variety of clients.
The purpose of this is to give a client examples of what a day's eating could look like, ensuring that it meets that client's energy and nutrient needs.
It isn't about prescribing a set way of eating that the client must follow as this approach is rarely the most effective way of helping clients establish long-term behaviour change. Our Meal Planning course explains in what situations meal plans might be beneficial and what precautions need to be considered.
Possibly! Courses of the same name vary between education providers and for this reason we cannot give a blanket answer.
We are required by the awarding bodies to consider each learner's application on an individual basis against criteria specified by the awarding bodies. Please bring this up at enrolment and our Careers Advisers can check your qualifications with our team of experienced professionals.
Future Fit Training offers flexible training solutions, which means we build your programme around you, your commitments, and the time you can dedicate to study. If your circumstances change, we simply rework your training plan.
Previous students have taken time out to have babies, change jobs, start work, and many other reasons. Most of the theory that underpins the practical part of our courses is delivered via e-learning. This gives you the freedom and flexibility to study wherever and whenever you want.
While you are training you can get student insurance from a company called Balens in order to teach, but you must declare that you are in training and charge a lower rate than you would if you were a fully qualified Pilates Instructor.
If you have student insurance in place, you can teach what you have learnt so far in training. You cannot however, call yourself a Pilates teacher until you are fully qualified at minimum Level 3.
If you are still waiting for your certification, contact Learner Services and we can provide a certificate to follow letter as provisional evidence of your qualification.
The amount of support that you're entitled to varies depending on your length of service, with longer service lengths granting you access to more funding.
Specifically, ELCAS works through yearly claims, and you can claim up to three times in total (3 separate years)
If you have 4-7 years of service, you can claim £1000 each time
If you have 8 years+ service, you can claim £2000 each time
ELCAS funding is for up to 80% of a training course, up to the value of the amounts accrued. You will need to pay a 20% contribution towards the cost of your chosen course. The lower the price of the course, the smaller amount your personal contribution will be.
For more information around claiming visit ELCAS Claims
No. Only approved courses (at level 3 or above) delivered by approved providers are eligible for ELCAS funding. The simplest way to check is by using the ELCAS approved provider search function.
If your course is eligible you can contact ELCAS to receive a Claim Authorization Note (CAN), which you can then present to the course provider when you book.

Your Flex password is preset and randomised in order to ensure that your account remains secure. Due to this, you can not choose an alternative password.
If you forget your password, you can reset this by choosing forgotten password on the login page for Flex.
This will vary depending on the assessment you are looking to complete, but if your course has a practical assessment and a written portfolio as part of this, general guidance is:
Practical assessment = The time frame between your workshop and practical assessment is recommended to be between a minimum of 4 weeks. This is to allow time to put what you have learnt into practice and prepare for your practical assessment. We would recommend that you utilise this time to suitably prepare.
Written portfolio assessment = You can start working on this after completion of the workshop. Details of what's required and the portfolio document you need to complete are within the Assessment module in your e-learning.
If the booked date of the online learning module or practical assessment has past and you haven't completed it, we recommend that you complete this as a priority and reschedule your future booked dates accordingly to allow ample time for you to complete this.
If you are concerned about any knock-on effect this may have on your learning, please contact support@futurefit.co.uk.
Normally our practical workshops are 9am-5.30pm however this can vary venue to venue. For confirmed details on timings, please refer to your Bookings tab, under Scheduled, and click on the practical workshop required. Please note confirmed venue details/times are not added to Flex until 4-6 weeks prior to running. If there are differing times within the "Additional information" section on the booking, these are the correct times.
We allow 14 days from the point of enrolment for cancellations, please note that there may be charges depending on what content you have accessed or completed.
After this point cancellations are not permitted. If you believe there to be extenuating circumstances, please refer the the Cancellation section with the Learner Support module in your library for further details.
Both courses cover an advanced level of nutrition. Level 5 Nutrient Metabolism focuses on metabolism and the hormonal and dietary factors that influence this. On the other hand, the Level 5 Nutrition and Immunity course looks closely at the components of the immune system and how our diets can support its optimal functioning. It covers topics such as inflammation, gut health, and cancer prevention.
For each assignment you submit during the Access to HE course, the marking time will be around 2-3 weeks. During this time you can move onto the next part of your course and continue to study.
We may be able to replace certificates however this is dependent on various factors - whether it's an awarding organisation certificate or a Future Fit attendance certificate, and how far back you completed the qualification. Please contact support@futurefit.co.uk and they can give guidance on this.
Please note that the Awarding Organisation may charge a replacement fee.
If you are receiving the MissingKeyMissing Key-Pair-Id query parameter or cookie value error message this is due to specific browser settings which prevent the online learning from working, to learn more about this you can access our full troubleshooting guide which is available via the Resource Centre in your Library.
All our practical workshops and assessments are scheduled on weekends (Friday - Sunday), but the number of days to attend are dependent on the discipline of the subject. If there are personal circumstances which prevent you from attending on weekend dates, please speak to a Careers Adviser about possible options.
If you have practical dates within your training, we recommend scheduling your dates as soon as possible in order to avoid disappointment. You can do this via the Bookings tab.
We recommend watching the booking tutorial video which can be found within the Resource Centre in your Library. If you're having trouble doing this, you can contact support@futurefit.co.uk for assistance.
Once you've signed your enrolment form, Flex will automatically set up your newly purchased learning ready for you to access. If you are new to us, you will receive a welcome email with your login to Flex. Just follow the instructions within this. If you are already learning with us and have purchased further products, you can just log into your Flex account and the additional learning will be there.
If you don't receive an email with your login, please contact us on support@futurefit.co.uk and we can request another email be sent.
Everything you have assigned to you will be in your account under the library. From there, you can either go into My Courses (which will show the complete package purchased) or you can go in via My Training (which will show all modules individually).
If you can't find a module with My Courses, go into My Training and use the search function to find the collection or module you want to complete.
A module is an individual part of an overall course. This may be in the form of an e-Learning file, a video or a document. A collection is where we group together modules to form a course or unit within a course. The most important thing for you as a learner is to know that Flex will manage the order of your learning where possible, so as long as you get started, Flex will direct you to which piece of training you need to complete next.
Most of our courses are endorsed by CIMSPA and offer CPD points. These points can be used to maintain membership with CIMSPA to ensure learners are showing currency within the industry.
When you log in to Flex, you'll see all your training on the home page. You'll also be able to find a helpful getting started video that will show you where to find your training. Each time you log in, you'll find a section called 'Jump Back In', which will include anything you've started but not completed.
Oh no, we work hard to exterminate all those pesky bugs. If you've managed to find one, please use the help and support button in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
You will have tools to screenshot, record and add notes about your issue so our technical team can best diagnose the bug and get it fixed ASAP. The more information, such as the browser and device type you can give us, the quicker we'll be able to help you.
Some courses require you to have completed prior learning before moving on. This ensures you have all the knowledge required to understand and succeed in upcoming modules. If you feel there is an error or mistake. Please contact us so we can clarify if you need to complete the prior learning.
Complete the training as soon as possible. The deadline dates are typically set so that you are able to progress in your course at a steady pace. In some cases, this is because you must complete the work before your practical workshop or assessment days. If you have questions or think that your training shouldn't be overdue. Please raise a support request, and we will get a member of the learner services team to assist you.
Yes, you can start as soon as you've logged into Flex. You will receive a Welcome Call within 72 hours of enrolment. If we can't reach you, an email will be sent with an invite to book a Welcome Call if you have any questions. This is not mandatory so if you're happy to start your learning and contact us when you need support, you can!
All personal data stored in Flex is stored in the UK and remains within the UK when being accessed. For information such as user data, training portfolios and learner progress, we use one of the largest and most well-recognised database providers in the UK.
Flex databases run within a private network, isolating communication between each of our servers and ensuring data is encrypted in transit (with SSL) as well as at rest (with LUKS).
Flex can only support browsers “as released” by vendors, without modification. This means that Flex cannot account for any additional functionality or unintended consequences as the result of the user installing and enabling third-party browser extensions and plugins.
In some cases, these extensions can “interfere” with the intended functionality of a website, such as modifying the user interface or preventing data from transferring between client and server; whether intentionally or not. Ad Blockers (for example) are known to do both of these things (legitimately) but can do so with unintended consequences.
Whilst every effort is made to ensure Flex remains fully functionality alongside the installation of such extensions, it is not possible to guarantee it due to the enormous set of possible third-party plugins.
Our general recommendation, especially if users experience any unexpected behaviour, is to disable browser extensions or whitelist Flex’s URL from your Ad Blocker(s) so that your extensions remain enabled for other websites.
Flex will never serve ad-network advertisements to learners, or give learners a reason to run a Ad Blocker whilst using Flex, so disabling Ad Blockers will not result in the undesired delivery of ads.
Flex adopts a usage share approach for browser compatibility and works with the latest versions of web browsers from Google, Microsoft, Apple and Firefox on vendor-supported versions of Windows, macOS, iOS and Android.
For older and less popular browsers (a version of a browser with less than 1% usage share) functionality degrades gracefully where possible. For example, Flex may support drag and drop in the latest version of a browser, this feature may degrade into a simpler way to achieve the same outcome in an old browser.
These cannot be guaranteed to work with Flex, but we make every effort to ensure it will, where reasonable with regards to the technology available, in line with our approach to degraded functionality. Additionally, Flex cannot guarantee the browser compatibility of SCORM eLearning modules themselves, which are deemed “uploaded content”. For this reason, Flex cannot ensure SCORM files display and function as intended by the publisher (to which you should refer to their own policy) but Flex can ensure that SCORM eLearning modules are at least delivered to the learner, in line with our approach to degraded functionality.
We would recommend that participants are over 18 and under 65. If you have questions or concerns regarding this, please get in touch with Learner Services.
Yes, there is an initial completion deadline date noted on your signed enrolment form (the timescale for this is dependent on the package you purchased), however so long as you are actively training with us, and logging into your Flex account at least every 6-months, we will keep it open.
You can ask for an extension to your deadline as many times as you need, however this must be requested prior to your deadline.
If you are going to be inactive on Flex for six months or more, we recommend you contact us so that we can look into the available options. If you are inactive and do not contact us (and your completion deadline has expired), then a fee may be required for us to reactivate your training.
Your overall progress is tracked in the banner at the top of the welcome page. As this is the site's first iteration, there isn't currently an option to see how much time you have spent on an individual course or when you last logged in.
Biomechanics is defined as mechanics applied to biology, and mechanics itself is the response of bodies to forces or displacements (ScienceDirect). Using an evidence-based system of screening and PREhabilitation exercise programme, Biomechanics Coaches can help mitigate the injury risk of our athletes and clients. We have shifted the paradigm to create a system that is modular and applicable to all other forms of exercise prescription.
Careers in biomechanics are greatly varied depending upon an individual's choice of education and interpretation. Within our school, these titles may be used...
While undertaking the Diploma in Biomechanics Coaching, you will experience learning both online and in-person in workshops, and have written work to complete. These workshops are a great opportunity to learn from the Master Trainers, ask questions, and put the skills into practice that you gained through your e-learning.
If you’ve completed your Diploma, there are many ways you can put your skills into practice as a full or part-time Biomechanics Coach. However, should you wish to elevate your training, you can become a member of the IBA (Intrinsic Biomechanics Association). This will entitle you to:
Mentor support from the Master Trainer team
Videos, webinars, and guest lectures delivered by industry leaders
The entry requirements for this Diploma are Level 3 qualification in Personal Training, Pilates, Yoga or equivalent. You will also need to be at least eighteen years old.
Learners are comprised of professionals looking for an understanding of intrinsic biomechanics. Often these are personal trainers, Pilates teachers, yoga Instructors, sports therapists and strength coaches.
If you want to study offline, you can download the course transcript from online learning and save it on your device. This way, you can continue learning even when you are not connected to the internet.
Life Coaching is a practice where a professional coach works with clients to help them achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being. A life coach may help clients develop a sense of self-awareness, set and achieve goals, and overcome personal or career challenges. By offering guidance and support, a life coach can help clients increase confidence, reduce stress, and improve motivation. To become a life coach, one typically needs to obtain certification or training, build a client base, and develop a niche. Common questions about life coaching include how much it costs, how long it takes to see results, and what to expect in a coaching session.
When you work as a Life Coach you can legally give advice and guidance on how to make life improvements in both personal and professional aspects. Life Coaches can not legally diagnose and treat any mental health issues, this is something a Therapist would do.
