Course Overview

This course is aimed at Exercise Referral-qualified instructors looking to move into specialist exercise prescription. 

Your familiarity with various chronic conditions will prove an invaluable skill in helping the clients who have been referred to you with Low Back Pain (LBP), helping you focus on the exercise management of this debilitating condition. 

With over 80% of the population suffering with low back pain at some point in their lives, this course allows you to expand your client base by offering a highly sought-after skill at a high level. You’ll learn all about the anatomy of the spine and its associated structures, and how to design progressive exercise programs to help clients manage their condition. 

This course is assessed in three parts, an e-learning section you can complete from home, a practical 2-day course, and a case study portfolio submitted online.

Included Training

This course covers the complex nature of low back pain, and how to assess clients and prescribe general exercises. You will also have an understanding of how back pain is treated and the scientific evidence basis on treatment models (common medication, manual therapy, psychotherapy, and exercise)

Learning & Assessment

This course uses the blended learning approach, allowing you to fully understand the online theoretical material and demonstrate your skills to an expert in your practical assessment. This course includes an 8-week e-learning component, followed by a 2-day practical course. There will then be a formative practical assessment.

This course is assessed in 3 parts:

  • Online learning
  • Online portfolio
  • An in-person practical & theory assessment.
