“There was so much energy in the room!” – Paul Swainson’s (Future Fit Training’s Head of Personal Training) overriding feeling at last Friday’s Personal Training Masterclass with Richard Callender.
Held at Everyone Active’s Queen Mother Sports Centre in London, the Masterclass was filled with fitness professionals, including many Future Fit students and graduates, taking part in workouts, learning and networking with the Future Fit team and Richard himself.
Richard got bodies moving and faces smiling with tasters of his signature fitness classes, while Paul got minds thinking with a talk and Question and Answer session.
First up was an Urban Funk workout, Richard’s hip hop-based dance class where participants gradually build a routine to a funky tune. Whether you’re a pro dancer or have no rhythm whatsoever, you’re guaranteed to have fun doing this as shown by the laughs and grins throughout!
Next Paul offered some insight into motivation and behaviour change, with tips on how to help clients think differently to get better results. All attendees now have free access to our online Motivational Communication video masterclass where they can learn more strategies and techniques on this key topic for Personal Trainers.
Then it was competition time: our friends at Physical Company kindly offered a Titan Bag for the winner of our newly-invented ‘Heads or Tails’ game (if you want to know what that’s all about you’ll have to come to the next event!).
Richard then capped the evening off with an intense Armageddon bodyweight class which left everyone suitably sweaty for the group shot at the end!
It was was great to see so many people stick around afterwards to take pictures and speak to Richard, Paul and our Senior Tutor Sam Holliday about everything from training tips to courses and career advice.
Then the highlight of the night for many – the goody bags! Packed with snacks, samples, vouchers and of course a t-shirt, everyone went home happy and full of ideas for developing their Personal Training businesses.
Proceeds from the event went to Everyone Active’s chosen charity Mind and we want to say a big thankyou to them for their support.
Richard is currently studying some Future Fit Training courses and is joining us in our mission to provide education and inspiration to fitness professionals.
There are already calls for us to put on another masterclass so let us know on social media where we should come to!
