A sedentary career, a car accident, two pregnancies and a fall down the stairs have all taken their toll on my spine. Without an understanding Pilates instructor, I do not know where my health would be now. I want to have that impact on others’ lives.
I bring a calm encouragement to the studio, empowering my clients to become aware of their bodies, develop control in their movements and trust in themselves and me.
I would not say that I am fearless. Instead, I feel the fear and act anyway, and I hope to inspire others to do the same.
I would really advise speaking to people. It sounds strange, but my nature had been to keep contact via email, messaging etc
By actually picking up the phone I got a much better idea of what different training providers were about. By speaking to my own instructor I got a student's perspective. By meeting and speaking to a community centre manager I have found a lovely hall with a community keen to start lessons with me, and was introduced to a Community Development Officer who is helping with start-up funding through grants applications. None of that would have been possible if I had not stepped out of my comfort zone and actually spoken to people.

Everything has come together to conspire for my return to the fitness industry (I was a swimming teacher over 20 years ago).
Becoming a Pilates instructor seemed the obvious next step for me.
I chose to study with Future Fit due to the professionalism of the team during the research process, and finding out that my own instructor had also studied with Future Fit sealed the deal.
I enjoy the mix of self-paced online learning and in-person workshops.
The best part for me has been the supportive team in the office.
I have learned that Pilates is even more difficult… and beneficial than I thought.
I am proud that I have worked, and continue to work, to overcome both physical and mental health issues so that I can help others.
My physiotherapist is very supportive of my Pilates journey. I still have to work daily to improve and maintain mobility and strength in my lower back and abdomen. Knowing that I will be helping others inspires me to help myself.
Being an anxiety sufferer I am definitely proud to say that I embrace feeling the fear and acting anyway. I was so nervous when I attended the workshops, and even more so the assessment. The sense of achievement passing the qualification is fantastic.
I love baking, usually with one or another child helping, and finding new vegan cake recipes to try. A recent favourite is strawberry cake but chocolate fudge cupcakes are always in the top 3.

I am proud to be a student of such a caring and encouraging organisation that always works to improve.
Whether I have needed information about the course, an extension on my study time, or advice in putting my program or portfolio together, the team has been there for me by phone or email. Everyone I’ve dealt with has been approachable, helpful and knowledgeable.
The courses continue to be updated and improved, rather than created and left, so I know Future Fit wants the best for its students.
I travelled much of South East Asia and Australia years ago. One day I would definitely like to visit parts of Central and South America. Still, my dream trip has to be a tour of the USA and Canada, including a train journey from Chicago to the West Coast, a cruise north past Vancouver, and a drive down Highway 1, though more keeps being added to the dream itinerary.
