Mark Lee -
Personal Trainer
Mark Lee came out of his retirement as a police officer to train for a career in fitness. Read on to hear his story...
"When looking at the different companies that teach Personal Training, I chose Future Fit because they have a very friendly approach, especially when I enquired about the course and the need for re-assurance that at 52 years old I wasn’t too old to develop a career in fitness. The flexibility, ability to pay for my course on a monthly basis and complete the programme alongside a full time job was also a deciding factor.
The Training Co-ordinators at Future Fit were excellent – they kept me updated throughout the whole learning process. As a result I’ve already recommended Future Fit to a number of people who’ve taken an interest in what I’ve been doing for the last 12 months.
I’ve gained employment with a local leisure centre that use me as a fitness advisor, and I also run a number of circuit training classes for them. This has opened up a number of other doors and I’m now involved in another circuit training group.
Future Fit gave me the confidence, motivation and qualifications to find employment, and I’m pleased to say that I’ve moved from my retirement as a police officer into an occupation that I find very interesting and rewarding.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my first few months. The variety of people you meet with their own little stories of fitness and injuries makes each client different. I‘ve found my age to be an advantage, as people look at me and think I'm more experienced than perhaps some of my younger colleagues – it’s also a good icebreaker for getting people to talk.
Having completed the course and becoming fully insured, I'm now in the process of developing my own business. I’m also a swimming instructor which means I’m able to offer professional fitness training services for the whole family."
